My Girl

About This Poem

“My Girl” is an encounter with the opposite sex.  The self discovery and the drive that ensues thereafter to get to know another. “My Girl” is part of the C:re:ATE Collection, a Released Expressions Production.

Yesterday I met this girl,

In my eyes I felt my world turn.

For beyond her beauty I see

A blend of sincere mystery,

That drew me closer to discovery.

In my thoughts I wanted to go further,

Hoping I’d see her more than a lover,

Reaching beyond that part covered by vain skin.

But I could not get through,

Cause all that ensued

Was the recognition of another.

Today I met this girl,

And thought I could reach her world;

The mystery of this being I’ve never seen.

Then it dawn on me, what I truly need,

Was not a mere damsel

But a tune to a different channel.

Then it dawn on me, what I truly need,

Was not a mere damsel

But a tune to a different channel.

So why drag through the hurt,

Get up and be alert,

For she is not far away.

Meeting my every need to stay,

And receiving all I conceive and pray,

To the glory God alone reveals.

I no longer needed Tinder,

Or some tool to find her.

An open heart ready to be taken,

Together working and no longer broken.

Blooming like rose awaking,

Never fading or falling.

Tomorrow I met this girl

and our worlds turned.
